About the Client

Bounce House City is a party rental company in Santa Ana, CA, renting bounce houses and event equipment across Orange County. The owner found me on TikTok, where I post weekly website teardowns.

The Challenge

Booking was entirely manual, and the volume of requests had outgrown it. Every reservation meant back-and-forth messages, availability lived in the owner's head, and the broken, unorganized system meant double-bookings and hours lost to bookkeeping that a growing rental business couldn't afford.

What I Built

An all-in-one admin dashboard built around guaranteed bookings. Customers see a live availability calendar right on the website, with taken dates grayed out, and reserve with a $100 deposit through online payment (built on QuickBooks Payments, launched and configured). Bookings confirm by email automatically, and a streamlined Send Invoice system replaces manually written invoices. The dashboard also includes inventory management: the owner adds new rental items with their own photos, descriptions, pricing, and stock counts. And so nothing sneaks up on her, the system texts the owner automated reminders for every upcoming event: one four days out, one the night before.

Under the Hood: A Calendar That Can't Double-Book

The availability calendar is the single source of truth for the whole business. When a deposit clears, the date locks and grays out on the public site instantly, so two customers can't reserve the same inventory for the same day. The same calendar drives the reminder texts: the system reads upcoming events and fires SMS notifications to the owner at four days and again the night before, timed so setup and delivery never get caught flat-footed. One data source, three jobs: customer-facing availability, booking enforcement, and owner reminders.
